GERD

GERD or Gastro-Esophogeal-Reflux-Disease (acid reflux for short) is a very common problem in which stomach acid travels out of the stomach, into the esophagus and can reach the teeth. This condition can have a profound effect by dissolving dental enamel. Eating large meals at night close to bedtime can push stomach acid upward into the mouth. When GERD is recognized and diagnosed it can be successfully treated by your physician.  A thorough dental examination can often detect the presence of this destructive problem.
